It is very simple to control your personal finances. The only difficulty may be the lack of self-discipline. Without making records of your income and expenses all your actions will be useless. You can make all these records simply using a pen and a notepad. You can do it even more effectively with the help of special software for home bookkeeping. There are plenty of such programs on the web, both free and paid. But, do not waste your time for choosing a right software. Even the most simple programs can be very useful.

Now what you need to record:

Income. If you have several sources of income then put the data separately. In future this information can help you to understand what source is the most effective and what only wastes your time, perhaps you need to give it up.

Expenses. Put down all your expenses: utilities, food, clothes, communications etc. Record all your expenses. If you put down the food costs then take everything into consideration, i.e. bread, meat, milk, beer etc. Don’t keep this data in your mind as it’s not so effective. The more information you put down the clearer will be the picture of your finances.

I won’t describe all the details of home bookkeeping here, as everything depends on your personal needs, goals and even your temper. The important thing is to start. Do it regularly and later you’ll develop your own scheme.

So, control your personal finances as it will help you to get more income, to cut your expenses, and as the result to build your strong home economy.
