Most of us do not like to visit a doctor, though we understand that it should be done regularly, especially as a preventive measure.

Fear of doctors is usually caused by a personal negative experience. And this experience may be different.

Fear – is it good or bad? Very often, our fear of doctors is caused by a global fear of life, fear of the unknown, of the future. Among all human feelings fear is perhaps the most powerful. The positive side of this feeling is a self-preservation instinct, which aims to protect us from death. However fear is also dangerous for us. It influences our mental processes, and because of it our body constantly remains in the stressed state.

But how to overcome this negative feeling? First of all you should realize the reason of your fear. Be honest with yourself and it will be your first great step.

The next step will be to put into your mind the following things:

- It isn’t necessary that you will hear a bad diagnosis. There are plenty of small, not so serious illnesses.
- Many illnesses disappear quickly if a person begins to lead a healthy lifestyle.
- Human body has an enormous resource of self-regulation and self-healing.

After you think over these facts, make the next steps, which are:

1. Find a good doctor. Your fear of doctors can be caused by the mistrust. If it is so, try to find a good professional whom you could trust.
2. Now if you trust your doctor share with him your fears and symptoms. He will recommend you other professional you could trust if it’s necessary.
3. The more rarely you visit your doctor, the more afraid you’ll be of these visits. To avoid this, make your own schedule of medical visits.

And the last… Remember that fear is your weakness. And no matter what kind of fear you have, always try to overcome it.
