There are several reasons that make many women refuse to breastfeed. In fact, most of them are myths, which today I want to reveal.
Myth 1. Breastfeeding hurts
This is not always true. You should enjoy your breastfeeding. To do this it is desirable to prepare your nipples for breastfeeding during a pregnancy . Starting from the sixth month of pregnancy they should be rubbed after a shower with a towel. You can also buy special creams for sensitive skin nipples.
When breastfeeding already… after feeding your baby grease your nipples with milk and let it dry without putting a bra.
You are experiencing pain while breastfeeding from the start? Hence, the child takes a breast in a wrong way. In this case it is necessary to teach your baby to do it normally, so that it takes not only the nipple, but also a part of a breast.
Myth 2. You need to refuse from many things
It’s not true. You only need to eliminate from your diet the foods that cause allergic reactions and diathesis. The only thing you need to give up completely is alcohol and smoking.
Myth 3. Your breasts will lose shape
Regardless of whether you breastfeed or not your breasts will be still another. But this does not mean that it will necessarily lose its shape and become ugly. To avoid this you should perform a special set of exercises during a pregnancy, wear special bras, use special cosmetics for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.
Myth 4. You are always tied to your child
Indeed, the first time after the birth it will be difficult to leave your baby. As a rule, children under 6 months eat approximately every 3-3.5 hours. At the same time, you can always express your milk into a bottle and let your husband, for example, feed the baby. Breast milk can stay about 8 hours at a room temperature, 3 days in the fridge and up to 3 months in the freezer.
Myth 5. You can’t breastfeed after a cesarean section
Caesarean section sometimes provokes a delay of lactation. After this surgery operation woman is too tired and can’t breastfeed instantly, but it doesn’t mean she can’t do it at all.
Myth 6. Breastfeeding leads to health problems
It is said that the baby makes a mother exhausted. To some extent this is true, but if you take vitamins for breastfeeding moms and eat normally, then breastfeeding won’t affect your appearance.
Myth 7. While breastfeeding it’s impossible to achieve your former slimness
Women who breastfeed their child return to their previous form much faster. This is due to the fact that breastfeeding promotes a more rapid reduction of uterine and its returning to the prenatal state. The only thing that remains throughout lactation is a large size of breasts.
Myth 8. All diseases are transmitted to the child
If the mother is ill, the child will also get infected. During an artificial feeding a disease will be longer and harder. When breastfeeding a child has a much higher resistance to any viruses, and with mother’s milk get strength (immunity) to fight the infection.
Myth 9. You can only feed until your baby has teeth, then he begins to bite
Children rarely bite the mother’s breast. With proper feeding even with all teeth the child can not bite you as he’s not sucking with teeth or gums, but with his tongue.
