Health of Your Home: Add Some Positive Energy

Have you ever thought about what’s the most important thing in your house? Comfort and beauty? Compatibility of colors and objects? All these qualities are certainly very valuable. But perhaps the most important is harmony between all subjects and how they affect your mood and health. Only here at your home you can relax and renew your strengths to communicate with the outside world.

And what have you done to make this influence positive? The first thing that comes to mind – the desire to give your home love and attention. And the second is the observance of certain rules. And you can learn about these things from feng shui – the science (or even the art) of establishing a psychological comfort at home.

To tell you about all the laws of feng shui I would need to write a series of articles and perhaps one day I will fill this gap. But in the meantime, I offer you to learn about 10 simple tips to make your home healthier and according to feng shui they are considered the most important. The surest approach is to try to use each of them, but you can choose what seems the most suitable.

Facts of feng shui, which a practical modern person should know

  • All items have their own energy and all that is in your house creates its aura, which affects its inhabitants.
  • House is like a living being, and the only way to receive a positive energy from it is to make sure that there is a balance of all components (movement and rest, light and shadow, decoration and emptiness).
  • Most of the energy that comes into your house (unless it is connected with people) isn’t clearly positive or negative. But only in the house it becomes a “positive” or “negative”.
  • If you are interested in the growth and prosperity your home can support you in this desire with the help of some very important (according to feng shui) items and actions. They create a positive aura of the house. And about this “practical magic” we’ll talk.

10 feng shui secrets to make your home healthier

1. Let the luck come in.
Entrance door and hallway space – the ways the energy enters the house. Therefore it’s recommended to take away from this area all unnecessary things and add some items, that create a positive mood.

The bright tones of the walls, good lighting, beautiful painting, a flower – all of it according to feng shui promotes the transformation of energy into a positive one.

2. Get rid of junk.
What is considered “junk” – everyone decides by themselves, but it’s very important to keep the house in order.

I’m not talking here about fanaticism. But, apart from maintaining health, you can also take care of the level of positive energy, because the garbage is a famous source of negativity.

Besides, no one has canceled the truth that by getting rid of unnecessary things, you are clearing the place for everything new and more necessary for you, including events in your life.

3. Strive for balance.
As already mentioned, masters of feng shui believe that the balance in the house is one of the most important qualities that contribute to positiveness and prosperity. It’s assumed that any object is somehow related to one of five elements: earth, metal, wood, fire and water.

4. Take the inspiration from nature.
Nature is the best example of growth and prosperity. In the atmosphere of city life, even small reminders of nature can help to relax and return us to the peace of mind.

5. Use mirrors wisely.
As is known, the main quality of mirrors is doubling what they reflect. Therefore, think carefully what it will reflect. Nice view from the window, a beautiful painting, a flowering plant. Feng Shui believes that in this case there will be more positive moments in your life.

6. The correct movement of energy.
For private houses this secret means that the front door shouldn’t be placed directly in front of stairs to the second floor or entrance into the basement, or the positive energy will fly away very quickly.

7. Create an oasis of a true rest.
The bedroom is a private area not only because it is used for sex, but more importantly, it is the place where we can really disconnect from the world and its problems.

8. Let the relatives support you, but don’t interfere.
Photos of family members, ancestors and friends should be placed where you see them more often and experience pleasant feelings. Living room, dining room and home office will be the best for this. But not the bedroom. Let it remain the private space of two spouses.

9. Fill the house with blooming beauty.
Home plants help you to feel your connection with nature. And all their beauty is important for every woman. After all, at any age she remains a flower.

10. Add light to your life.
Besides the obvious advantages of lighting, i.e. providing a visual comfort, properly placed lights can help to attract a lot of positive energy.

These are the most important secrets of feng shui which you need to know.

Positive Thinking – Wonderful Life!

Optimistic lifestyle isn’t a piece of cake, it’s easily said than done. All starts of positive thinking which is later transformed into your attitude and actions. Discover now how you can easily learn to think positively.

The main thing is a habit to think positively

Try to have only positive thoughts for 21 days. Yes, it’s difficult and probably there will occur many negative thoughts in your mind. However, try to see the positiveness in what is happening and to understand what lessons can be learned from this. The first results you can see already after 7 days. Watching your thoughts at this time, you will be surprised how many negative thoughts there appear in your head. And it’s important not to pretend that everything is OK, still thinking negatively, but to begin to deal with your negativeness, developing the habit of thinking positively.

A natural question is how to do this?

When you feel or realize that you think negatively, try to get rid of these thoughts immediately. Don’t let negative thoughts stay in your head for more than 30 seconds.

Realize that you are the master of your thoughts

Try to understand that you’ve got the right to make a choice as what to think about a given situation. Don’t let the old habit rule your life. Concentrate your attention on the interval between the negative information received by you and your reaction to it. Don’t rush to respond. Take a deep breath and count to 10.

Besides, don’t rush to evaluate your feelings. Try to step back from them, as if it’s not happening to you. Think about what advice would you give to someone who is experiencing problems like yours.

Keep yourself in good shape

If you have no time for a good sleep, nutrition, physical exercises, then you should find it. It’s no secret that health is the most important in our lives and if you feel good, you’ll think positively.

Try to limit your contact with unpleasant people

You won’t be able to think positively when you constantly talk with people that irritate you. The best thing to do is to reduce the contact with such people to a minimum, if you can’t completely exclude them from your life.

Try to talk more with positive people. Learn from them how they cope with their problems. Compare your own life tactics with their system of behavior in similar situations.

Concentrate more attention on present and future

Many people spend a lot of time thinking over past mistakes. It’s better after analyzing your mistakes and making conclusions to focus on how to change everything in future. This and your optimism will help you a lot with thinking positively.

Finally, use more positive words in your speech. It’s like self-hypnosis, the more you speak of positiveness, the more positive person you become.

And after realizing and fulfilling this, I assure you that your positive thinking will lead you to a wonderful life!

Ways to Heal an Angry Teenager

Living with an angry teen is never easy. It can be frustrating, hurtful, and very stressful. However, there are some specific things you can do to help him or her heal. Maintain positive communication, encourage healthy activities, and look into alternative placement if necessary.

Ways to heal an angry teenager

Ongoing Communication

Having an open and honest conversation with your teen is always helpful. Teens that are angry and display that anger in inappropriate ways often do so because they do not know how to communicate properly. Their brains are still developing at this point, and when combined with the hormonal changes there is clearly a biological reason for their actions.

However, talking with your teen about why they are angry can help them work through these issues. It is important that the communication be done correctly. Do not ask open ended questions. These do not result in honest conversations and it makes it easy for a teen to ignore you. Ask about specific parts of their day. Also engage in active listening. This way your teen will know that you are hearing them, and it also prompts them to elaborate on their thoughts. You want your teen to start working through their anger in a positive way.

Healthy Activities

Encourage your teen to burn off their anger with exercise or other activities. The right activity will greatly depend on the interests of your teen. Some examples are yoga, martial arts, sports, running, or cycling. The activity should help them express their feelings and burn off excess energy. A study done at Princeton University found that exercise really does make people feel better. It is one of the best ways to reduce anxiety and to improve mood. Regular exercise or other physical activities can help teens naturally feel better.

Alternative Options

If a teen has serious anger problems, violence and other destructive behavior may occur. If this is the case, you may want to look into alternative schools options. Professionals can step in and help teens manage their anger. Sometimes there are underlying issues like trauma or undiagnosed mental conditions that need professional intervention. Get the help you need to keep your family safe and to help your teen through this difficult time.

Teens need love and support to heal their anger. By following these steps you can help your teen learn how to manage their emotions. Do whatever is necessary to support your family and your angry teen.

How to Explain Disabilities to Your Child

There may come a point where you have to explain to your child why another child has a disability because of a friend, sibling or classmate they know has one. It can be a tricky thing to try to explain to a child but there are ways to make it easy for them to understand, here are a few ways to talk about it with your child:

How to explain disabilities to your child

Ask them questions: Ask your child a list of questions to get them thinking and to help them understand.

  • What is your classmate’s name? It’s a self-explanatory question; you want to avoid referring to their classmate as ‘the kid with ________’.
  • Does he/she do things differently? This question will show you what your child believes is different from themselves, here you can address this situation by stating that just because their classmate is acting different doesn’t mean they are not like each other.
  • How does it make you feel when you see them doing something differently? Finding out how your child reacts to their classmates actions will help you decide the best explanation and route to teach them. They are most often curious or confused.
  • What are the things you like about your classmate? This question will help them see past the differences and allow your child to focus on the common interests they share.

Break it down: Don’t be afraid to use drawings, diagrams, analogies or simple examples when it comes to explaining what the actual meaning behind their differences and disabilities. Keep it basic with phrases like, example: ‘Autism is something you are born with it, some people have it some don’t’, or ‘Classmate’s Name, has the same brain as you but it works differently from yours’ and etc.

Keep it simple and short: This conversation does not need to be long because it can overwhelm your child. Keep it short and informative. Make it a casual conversation that teaches them what they need to know and answers their questions. Keep it positive and your child will be positive.

Reacting: Children are not naturally mean or hateful beings, so their first reaction to a child with a disability is curiosity and then confusion. Sometimes a curious and confused child may not know how to deal with their feelings and can react in negative ways. Your goal as an adult is to teach them that it is okay to be curious and confused but that their reactions should be gentle and kind. Your child needs to know that there is no reason to treat their classmate differently and that they are just like themselves.

Prepare for questions: Children are curious and always seeking knowledge, they want an answer and will ask many questions to get them. Prepare for questions after the conversation and to follow days or even weeks later. Always be open and willing to listen to their questions.

You may not deliver the talk as smoothly as you want and your child may not understand it right away but the point is that you have the talk. Keep it simple and light, answer questions they have and teach them that their classmate is no different than they are and should not be treated differently. For more information you can reach out to the teacher or parent of the classmate for help.

Why Optimists Make Great Leaders

Becoming a successful leader requires hard work and perseverance. It takes more than just diligent effort to create an environment conducive to success in business, the creative arts, finance, education and politics. Many of the most successful leaders share one quality in common: optimism. For some, biological factors may enhance their ability to retain optimism in even the toughest situations. For others, their optimism is learned – a function of studying other great leaders and learning from their methods.

Why Optimists Make Great Leaders

Defining Optimism

The Free Dictionary defines optimism as, “A tendency to expect the best possible outcome or dwell on the most hopeful aspects of a situation.” There are other variations to this definition but all share a common theme. Optimism is the ability to project past current circumstances into a positive future outcome. While there is some biological evidence that supports heritable optimism, even the most promising optimist must work hard to sustain that tendency during natural disaster, economic downturn, personal hardship and relational distress. Just like a talented musician must practice to perform flawlessly, an optimistic leader must practice in order to convey optimism consistently.

Qualities of an Optimistic Leader

It is not enough to be optimistic in a leadership role. The effective leader must also be able to communicate that optimism to staff, volunteers, customers, vendors and lenders. It’s true that many of the greatest leaders have been optimists, but they have also been great at communicating their optimism. Leaders like Colin Powell, the Dalai Lama and Ronald Reagan spent much of their time practicing their oratory skills so that their ideas were clearly conveyed. In addition to being gifted communicators, optimistic leaders must have an entrepreneurial spirit, strong organizational and administrative skills, a warm and welcoming manner, intelligence and courage.

How Optimism Affects Leadership

Every leader has at least one follower; this is the nature of leadership. There will always be fewer leaders than followers, although the most successful leaders may not have the most followers.

However, history has shown that the most successful leaders are likely to be optimists and that they are also likely to have the most effective, organized and committed followers. Optimists have the gift to paint the “big picture” in a way that makes followers willing to rally their support behind it.

Thus, optimistic leaders are futurists, philosophers and artists in their own right. Because achieving such a vision takes hard work, leaders who are optimists must also be able to inspire others to share the workload. In this way, only the express of sincere and sustained optimism in a leader can galvanize people to set aside their smaller agendas and band together for the common good.

How to Identify the Strength of Optimism

Happiness – when one comes across this word, the first image that pops up in mind is that of a very cheerful person who is always merry and has got no problems in life. We complain that fate is so partial in matters of whom she bequeaths her good luck upon, and that we are never the chosen ones. This is as good as complaining that the glass is not full when the glass is half full. The truth is, what matters is not how lucky we are, or how much are we bestowed with, but how we look at things. If we are able to take everything in our stride, then there is absolutely nothing that can take away our happiness.

Identify the strength of optimism

What optimism is all about?

This characteristic of looking at the bright side of life is termed as being optimistic. It is not something which can be bought or given, but it has to be inculcated by the individual himself. When one is able to believe that whatever happens is for his or her good, no force can dampen his spirits. This is because he sees every occasion with the feeling that there is undoubtedly something good about it. Every cloud has a silver lining, so the presence of a cloud in one’s life is not a reason to be miserable; in fact it is a cause for rejoicing.

Optimism is the main ingredient of success

The dictionary describes optimism as the feeling that all is going to turn out well. Indeed it is all about the mentality of an individual. When one assumes failure, nothing can make him succeed. He may have all the resources and abilities to win, but what keeps that achievement from him is his self doubt, the doubt he has about himself. On the other hand, a person who keeps assuring himself that he will do well will undoubtedly succeed in life because he did not let the winds of doubt bow him down.

A measure of how strong optimism really is

Optimism is one of the most important strengths one can have. It is the resilience factor which keeps giving us hope and encouragement when all seems gone. To identify how strong optimism can be, ask any successful man about the qualities he believes are required to reach his level and optimism will undoubtedly find an important place in his list. Ask any elderly person why he was not able to achieve success and his answer would be that he did not have faith in his abilities, he was depressed when he came face to face with his first failure and was so daunted that he never dared to try again. Had this man seen those failures as the stepping stone to his success, being optimistic that this failure had been just to teach him an important lesson, he could have been in a position quite different from his present one.

Thus we see that optimism is required in every phase of life by every individual who wants to make a mark for himself in this world. Face every instance with the faith that it is meant for your best and be amazed by how all your miseries ebb away.

How to get Positive Thinking with Positive Action

Human mind is a repository of thoughts. These thoughts have the power to take us to unimaginable heights in life, if cultivated with a visionary approach. Developing a positive approach towards life is a natural consequence of all the positive actions we take towards achieving this mean.

How to get positive thinking with positive action

Positive actions help you gain confidence

Any positive action that one takes towards accomplishing any task in life leads to positive thinking. Suppose a person has been assigned the task of designing a computer software that has met repeated failure despite the best efforts being put in.

A person can visualize this situation in two ways. One, the person can let the feeling of boredom and depression set in, thinking about the difficulties and obstacles faced by other people who were assigned the task. This will naturally lead to another failure with negative consequences for the company.

However, a person with a positive frame of mind visualizes the situation in an entirely different context. A person who loves to take the challenges head on will work out the reasons behind the failure. The person will work on the loopholes and come out with a strategy of dealing with the problem. This might involve taking help from others, scanning through literature and sitting late hours in the office trying out innovative solutions.

Positive actions taken

To understand the topic in a better context, let us analyze the positive action initiated by the person who is dealing with the problem. The person did not get depressed by the failures, the other team members faced while dealing with the challenge. This shows the mental toughness of the person. Being mentally tough and prepared to take on any challenging situation head on is the first step towards positive action. Next, the person showed maturity as he or she took help from other colleagues who had knowledge on this topic. This too shows that the person is sensitive towards others and cares for them. This is a key point as a person who shows emotional maturity tends to succeed hands down, when it comes to solving tough issues.

Preparing to learn and improve skills is another key factor that leads to positive action. The person in question here, did the work with true intent scanning through the literature available for solving the problem. These all actions taken when put together leads to the task being accomplished successfully.

Positive action leads to positive thinking

The end result of all this exercise leads to successful accomplishment of the task. As the person is able to accomplish the task successfully and solve the problem, this will help in strengthening the thought process of the person.

The person will be able to think with vision and contribute in a better way for successful accomplishment of any task, be it in the professional life or personal life. This itself leads to development of positive thinking.

Prior planning, thorough knowledge of the subject matter and an honest effort are the pre requisites for successful accomplishment of the task. If one makes efforts to work on these aspects in true earnest, this will lead to positive thinking.

Improve Your Life One Month at a Time – the Year Project

If you’re like me, you see a lot of room for improvement in your life. For me, it was the way I ate, dressed, wasted money, and even the way I took care of my skin. In the midst of depression, I made a decision to make a change and went about setting a year plan to improve myself, one month at a time. 8 months in, the results have already been life changing!

The Year Project: Improve your life one month at a time

1. Set a plan. Write out a list of subjects you’d like to tackle. Each month, focus on one or two things that will help you improve the way you live your life. For example: diet, fitness, skin, and finance. With only one thing to focus on each month, the tasks seem much less daunting.

2. Save your money. It’s tempting to go out and buy things that might help improve your life or to hire experts to give you advice. But breaking your bank will not be beneficial in the end, and there are lots of great resources that you can use for free.

3. Do your research. Read online articles, books, watch documentaries, talk to people, and try things out throughout the month. You can likely find everything you need by searching online articles, your library, or getting ideas from others. And don’t worry if you find the month focuses blending together. Once you start feeling the buzz from conquering your challenges, there is no reason to hold yourself back from the next ones! Just don’t get overwhelmed.

4. You call the shots. Often, when we go through rough times, we seek ways to help us feel in control again. This project was my way of doing just that. So make it your own. Make your own plan and change up the months as you see fit. Unexpected things pop up in life and something that happens to you in month 2 might jive better with your focus for month 7. No one says you have to stick to the original outline. And add things if you feel so moved! You may discover new areas of interest along the way.

5. Tell others. Start a blog, post your achievements on social media, call a friend and tell them the plan. It’s easier to hold yourself accountable when you know others know about it, and their encouragement can catapult your spirits and determination. And you may even inspire them to improve their own life!

6. Don’t expect to become an expert. Just because you are focusing on something for a month doesn’t mean you will have mastered it by the end of those 30 days. This will simply give you specified time to focus on something and can serve as the building blocks for the rest of your life.

7. Don’t quit. Discouragement will happen. It’s impossible to go a whole year without some feelings of backtracking, failing, and disappointment. Some months will go smoother than others, some will feel life-changing while others will pass without much notice at all. But that’s what’s so great about the Year Project; next month is a new month! You may find you are drawn to certain topics more than others and that’s fine. Stay honest and allow yourself to have bad days, weeks, even months.
