It clear that you need to accept yourself the way you are, but at the same time you needn’t forget to love not only yourself but the others. Self-respect is the first stage, which will help you to accept the others and respect them. If you don’t respect yourself, you can’t respect the other person. Your self-respect will appear when there is a real desire to get better, but it’s not as easy as it may seem.
Many people in one way or another experience dissatisfaction with themselves for different reasons. One is dissatisfied with their appearance or with their personal traits, the others – with the results of their work. This can be explained with low self-esteem, which is considered the foundation of unhappiness, frustration and constant failures.
How to develop self-respect
You won’t be able to develop self respect if you have a low self-esteem. People with such a problem feel a sense of jealousy and envy to the slightest success of their friends or relatives.
Normal self-esteem is formed primarily under the influence of famous people, whose opinion is respected by the majority. It is necessary to develop self-respect since your childhood, as kids are greatly exposed to public opinion.
In addition, throughout the life a person regularly compares a created image of themselves with the ideal one. If the real image of yourself turns out to be worse than the perfect one, as a result you will have low self-esteem and the absence of self-respect. Such a person is eternally dissatisfied with everything, looking for the causes of failures in other people, they don’t expect anything good out of life and thus don’t succeed in anything.
If they suddenly manage to get a positive result, they try to distance themselves from it and look for the explanation in various external factors such as luck.
As the result there’s a vicious circle, in which the person can’t succeed because of the eternal dissatisfaction with themselves, and is unhappy because is never able to achieve success. Those whose self-esteem is lowered, should forget about despair and let their life take its course. There is always a way out of even the most complicated situations. Remember, self-respect appears together with the belief in yourself.
You need to praise yourself all the time, sometimes you can even admire yourself. In addition to that you shouldn’t forget to improve your positive qualities. Every time when you look in the mirror, smile and say to yourself: “I’m healthy, I’m happy… I’m the best!”. Just before developing your self-respect, you need to determine what qualities you should praise and improve in yourself.
Remember this simple formula? Love yourself, believe in yourself and respect yourself and only then you’ll be able to succeed in life.
