You hear an annoying alarm sound, open your eyes, make great efforts and click “delay” in order to sleep happily for another 5 minutes. Again you hear the familiar sound, but refuse to open your eyes. After 15 minutes you jump out of your bed running around the apartment in an attempt to wash, pack up, eat and not be late for work. As a result, you feel annoyed from the early morning.
Sounds familiar? If so, then morning is probably not your favorite part of a day. But this can be changed.
10 simple ways to start a good day
1. Allow yourself to relax.
Never go to bed in a bad mood. Complete all your affairs and go to bed with a calm mind and relaxed body. Stop thinking about work and plans for the future. Night time is for rest.
2. Go to bed in time.
I know how tempting it is to go to bed at 12 AM or even later, after watching a favorite movie or sitting at the computer. But try to go to bed earlier. Remember Benjamin Franklin’s proverb?
Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wisely.
3. Don’t close the curtains.
Our body has a built-in biological clock that is synchronized with natural light. When we find ourselves in darkness, our brain begins to produce “the hormone of darkness” – melatonin, sending signals to our body ‘it’s time to sleep’. Melatonin production ceases in the morning so your body knows when to get up. If you sleep in complete darkness, you wake up in the morning with a feeling of fatigue and sleep deprivation.
4. Enjoy the moment.
Don’t jump out of your bed immediately. Give yourself 5-10 minutes to wake up, stretch and enjoy the morning.
5. Smile to yourself.
Even if the weather is terrible outside and your spouse is still sleeping, smile to yourself. It will raise your mood and help you to start a great day.
6. Take a shower.
Water is a great way to feel good and start a new day. But water should be cool rather than hot, otherwise you will feel sleepy again.
7. Drink a glass of warm water with a drop of lemon juice in it.
This helps to remove toxins from your body and stimulates metabolism.
8. Listen to nice music.
Nice music in the morning is a great start of a day. It will raise your mood and help you to wake up.
9. Positive attitude.
Motivate yourself by reading good quotes or funny jokes, repeating positive statements. It takes only 1-2 minutes and will improve your mood.
10. Healthy breakfast.
A healthy and balanced meal in the morning normalizes blood sugar levels and provides a steady supply of energy, which makes it easier to cope with stress. A balanced breakfast doesn’t mean that it should be a muffin with a cup of coffee. Fruits and yogurt are much better.
And remember… Don’t go to work without embraces and kisses.
Have a good day!
